September 2021

John Cioletti, BANNJ President

 BANNJ President's Message

I hope all of our members enjoyed the summer months spending time with family and friends.

I would like to begin my message by declaring "September Associate Appreciation Month!" Our associate members are valued every day of every month as they are a vital part of our association and the home-building process. To all BANNJ builder members, it's truly good business to do business with an associate member. As we transition into fall, we begin our schedule of events with our Annual Business Showcase & Beefsteak at The Brownstone on Thursday, September 23rd. This is a perfect way to say thank you to our associate members by supporting this entertaining and time honored event!

There is still time to reserve a tabletop and showcase your company products and services to the Northern NJ building community.  Take a dinner table and spend an evening with your colleagues, employees and friends at this fun event.  Sponsorships available to market your company, so be sure to register by September 13 to ensure your spot. All Beefsteak sponsors will be highlighted in the October issue of Northern Lights.

After the Beefsteak, don’t miss the favorite Reno’s Pre-Holiday Networking Party on October 28th, followed by general membership meetings to include networking and educational seminars on November 18th at the stunning new Ferguson showroom in Mahwah and on December 2nd at the beautiful Wayne Tile showroom in Ramsey. See information below and register for all events at https://members.bannj.org/events.

Get ready for our Fall Membership Drive coming up in October for a chance to win a free membership with details coming soon.

It’s tough to buy a new home—And the pandemic isn’t the only culprit. Here’s what you should know.

Housing construction is sluggish. Home prices are soaring. Buyers are hungry but have fewer options. The Covid-19 pandemic exposed a severe housing issue that was more than a decade in the making: The housing market is ill-prepared for many of the 72 million millennials who are now in the prime age range to purchase at home.

Pending home sales slide for second month in a row — even though economists predicted an increase

Fewer Americans signed on the dotted line in July to purchase a home — but it’s likely too early to say whether that’s a signal of a cooling market

Home prices rise at record pace for third straight month — with 6 cities leading the hot housing market

Home prices continued to grow at a record pace in June, according to a leading barometer. The latest edition of the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index showed that home prices increased 18.6% from a year ago in June, marking the third consecutive month of record growth in the more than 30-year history of the index.

Weekly mortgage-refinance demand drops as interest rates stall

A prolonged period of low mortgage rates is taking its toll on the refinance market, as most borrowers who qualify have already gone through the process.

What to expect in the 2022 housing market

For any homebuyer, novice or weathered, the 2021 housing market has been harrowing to navigate.

Here's why experts believe the U.S. is in a housing boom and not a bubble

The U.S. housing market has been an unlikely beneficiary from the Covid-19 pandemic.
