August 2021

BANNJ President John Cioletti

President's Message

Heartfelt condolences to our BANNJ Chairman of the Board and Past President, Glen Lumia, on the passing of his father William Lumia on July 25th at the age of 89.  We extend our deepest sympathies to Glen, Donna and the entire Lumia family.

Thank you to Reno’s Chef Eva and to all board members who attended our Summer Board Meeting & Social at Reno’s Appliance on July 8th. It was great to see so many of our board members in person again, and we had a productive meeting on planning for the future of the association as we re-engage with our events and meetings.

With the continued generosity and investment of our members, Premier Partners, and Industry Partners, BANNJ is in a solid position to continue to educate, inform and help our members network to grow their businesses as we move forward. On behalf of our Board of Directors, thank you all so much for your valued membership and support.

I look forward to seeing many of our members at our upcoming Annual Business Showcase & Beefsteak at The Brownstone on Thursday, September 23rd!  The Beefsteak will kick off our fall event schedule, and you can participate by reserving a tabletop to display your products and services, taking one our premium sponsorships and attending the showcase and dinner.  This is a great opportunity for members to highlight your company to the Northern NJ building industry so be sure to register today https://members.bannj.org/events.

Michael Kurpiel
NAHB Chairman Chuck Fowke took a moment last week to thank New Jersey State Representative and BANNJ Board Member Michael Kurpiel of Carter Lumber for his steadfast commitment to calling attention to the unprecedented price spikes in lumber. BANNJ and the rest of NJBA's members, along with builders around the country, have been struggling with heightened prices of lumber since the pandemic set in. Mike took the lead with NAHB's State Representatives to organize a letter writing campaign, and this successful grassroots initiative resulted in a renewed focus on how to handle this crisis.
