BANNJ President, John Cioletti |
I hope our members and families are safe and well and that the information going out from the 3 arms of your membership, BANNJ, NJBA and NAHB, have provided you with timely and valuable tools to help your businesses.
Our Programs-Associates Committee has scheduled some informative and fun events coming up in March.
On March 9th, ASID NJ and BANNJ will have a joint virtual roundtable at which I will be speaking about the kitchen appliance industry and the effects of the pandemic on supply chain and disruption that pertains to all building industry professionals. Login in to Zoom and join the discussion.
On March 11th, we have a fun and festive virtual cooking class with Sub Zero Corporate Chef Ann Marie Soohoo. Join us to learn how to make Irish Soda Bread just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
Many thanks to associate member SportProsUSA and builder member Archuleta Builders for their support as “Luck of the Irish” sponsors for the event (see ads below).
The Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association is inviting BANNJ members to submit applications for their 2021 Awards of Excellence to take place in June. All submissions are due to Metro by March 12th.
If interested, you may complete and email this Entry Form to mduarte@metrobca.org.
As we transition into spring and the warmer weather, we look forward to having our Annual Golf Outing & Scholarship Awards at White Beeches Golf & Country Club on Monday, May 24th. Please SAVE THE DATE and join us for a great day on this beautiful course to tee-up business in a safe, outdoor setting or join us later for networking with cocktails and dinner outdoors on the patio. Excellent sponsorships are available to help market your company to Northern, NJ building industry professionals.
Our Foundation is once again awarding scholarships to students who intend to pursue a college degree or trade school path in the building industry. Information and applications can be found on our website at https://www.bannj.org/scholarship-foundation/. Please be sure to let students that you know in the Bergen, Passaic, Hudson & Sussex county areas who plan to pursue their continuing education in a building/construction industry major or career path know about these scholarships. The deadline for applications for the 2021-2022 school year is April 1, 2021.
Congratulations to two special BANNJ members to be honored at the NAHB Sales and Marketing Awards.

Escalation Clause for Lumber Materials
NAHB recommends including an escalation clause in contracts that indicates if lumber prices increase by a certain percentage, the customer would be required to pay the extra costs. I hope you find useful. Please share with me your success story with this addition to your contracts. I’d love to let NAHB know of its value.
