President's Farewell Message
It is hard to believe that my tenure as President of BANNJ is coming to an end. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the organization these past three years. To say that this has been an unprecedented period is an understatement. Who could have imagined that we would be faced with a health crisis that would impact the world? My prayers go out to the families that have lost loved ones. We especially remember several friends we have lost over the past three years, including Past Presidents Mauro Greco and Jeff Mathieu, and most recently, Premier Partner Don Westra from Wayne Tile.
I want to thank the Board of Directors and Membership for their friendship and support. A special thank you to Kathleen Kurpiel, our Executive Officer. Without her, it would have been impossible for me to have a successful Presidency. I look forward to my continued involvement as Chairman of the Board.
Over the last three years, we have experienced a pandemic, an overwhelmed health system and changes in the way we all live and work. Everyone was forced to adapt to a virtual lifestyle. What no one foresaw was the increased demand spurred by the lockdown. Families began to refocus on their homes, leading to a catastrophic shortage of building materials, household products, and labor. Part and parcel with this came substantial price increases and higher inflation.
Despite all of the negatives we have had to deal with, with the groundwork we have put in place, I am confident and optimistic for BANNJ and the building industry. The organization is in good hands with the incoming President, Thomas Petersen, and the Board of Directors. I wish them, and everyone, a safe and prosperous future.
