December 2022

 President's Message

BANNJ President Thomas Petersen

Thank you to our members and guests who attended our Thanksgiving Cooking Demonstration & Tastings Team Building Event at the beautiful Sub Zero, Wolf & Cove showroom in Pine Brook, NJ on November 10th.
Special thanks to our hosts, Kim Little, Kim Heal, Laurie Antosy and team, and most especially to corporate chef Ann Marie Soo Hoo.  Chef Ann Marie instructed the group how to prepare a wonderful holiday meal in the amazing Sub-Zero appliances, and then served an entire beautiful and delicious meal to all attendees!  It was a very special event to get all in a festive mood and everyone left with a goodie bag to prepare their own holiday items.
On December 1st, Wayne Tile in Ramsey, NJ hosted our Holiday Gathering & Cyber Security Presentation in their stunning showroom. All members and guests enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of managers Chris and Enzo , and special thanks to Richard Gaynor who presented on the perils of Cyber Theft in today’s businesses and personal data, along with insight from David Gaynor and Jared Lans, Esq.  Members gained valuable and informative suggestions to prevent and deal with cyber attacks and many shared stories of their experiences.  We greatly appreciate these two companies and all our generous Premier Partners who host events for BANNJ in their showrooms throughout the year!

This Holiday season has seen an increase in E-Commerce and with it,  Cyber-criminals are seizing the opportunity to “get in on the action”$$!  They want to Lockup your computer and hold it for ransom

The US housing market is in an uneasy state of equilibrium. Demand has plummeted as mortgage rates hit a two-decade high, but prices haven’t declined much in part because supply remains correspondingly low. If borrowing costs don’t start to normalize by early next year though, the scales may finally tip and prices could plunge.

U.S. single-family home prices slowed further in September as higher mortgage rates eroded demand, closely watched surveys showed on Tuesday.
A series of layoffs at America’s major technology companies could put pressure on local housing markets amid a broader nationwide cooling.
Apartment rents across the US dropped in November by the most in at least five years, a sign that a key cost tracked by the Federal Reserve could be easing up.

In June, Fed Chair Jerome Powell told reporters that the overheated U.S. housing market—which saw U.S. home prices rise over 40% in just over two years—needed a “reset.” And higher mortgage rates, he said, would slowly bring “balance” back to the market.
Nationwide, households need six-figure incomes to comfortably afford the typical home for sale, according to a report by Redfin.
There are signs inflation may fall further in coming months, but housing threatens to mute any improvement.
Mortgage rates soared over 7% just a month ago, but since then they have fallen more than half a percentage point. Still, mortgage loan application volume decreased 0.8% last week compared with the previous week, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s seasonally adjusted index.
