Politicians are promising housing help. Homebuilders say the problems are many and the solutions scant.

In the suburbs of Wichita, Kansas, local homebuilder Carl Harris used to charge homebuyers around $330,000 for one of his new-construction homes aimed at growing families. Now, he’s selling that same house for $450,000 — putting it out of reach for the typical household there.

Kamala Harris, Donald Trump plans for housing, child care, taxes compared

As the upcoming presidential election heats up, voters have to choose between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump on a variety of issues.

Neither Harris nor Trump can make housing more affordable

Both presidential candidates claim they can fix the housing affordability problem that is frustrating millions of Americans. Unfortunately, neither candidate’s proposals would increase the supply of affordable homes — and Vice President Kamala Harris’s plan would make matters worse.

Mortgage refinance boom takes hold, as weekly demand surges 20%

Applications to refinance a home loan surged 20% last week compared with the previous week, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s seasonally adjusted index. Demand was a stunning 175% higher than the same week one year ago.

US new home sales fall less than expected; median house price declines

Sales of new U.S. single-family homes fell less than expected in August and could regain momentum in the months ahead as declining mortgage rates and house prices stimulate demand.

US pending home sales hover near record low in August, NAR says

Contracts to buy U.S. previously owned homes edged up in August from July's record-low level as a drop in mortgage interest rates in anticipation of Federal Reserve benchmark rate cuts provided a modest lift to affordability.

It’s not a great fall housing market, but this is ‘as good as it gets,’ economist says

While housing affordability remains a challenge for many buyers in the U.S., conditions are somewhat improving due to lower mortgage rates.

Fair housing ‘letdown’ triggers frustration with Biden

Civil rights and housing advocates are angry with the White House over delays in finalizing a long-promised fair housing rule — but are divided over whether to publicly pressure the administration as the election nears.

Congratulations to BANNJ Past President John Cioletti of Reno’s Appliance for being honored next month with the Robert L. Marcalus Legacy Award at the St. Joseph’s Health Foundation Annual Gala.  We are so proud of John and all that he does for the community and Association.
