President's Message

BANNJ Members:

Since our successful 75^th Anniversary Celebration in January (see last month’s Northern Lights for details and photos), our Board of Directors met to discuss association governance and strategic planning for the year ahead.  As the first BANNJ President who is an Associate Member, I have entrusted our Board with moving to increase our membership, especially taking advantage of the associate perspective, to enlist more trade partners to share our message with other associates and non-member builders alike.  I encourage all members who are interested to get involved and join our associates committee or one of our event committees. Also, be sure to help our association by participating on social media and liking/sharing/tagging on our Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter pages. 

In 2019, we will also create an Instagram page to feature member projects and companies.  We have some informative and educational meetings coming up, including a seminar on NJ Marijuana Legislation & the Implications for All Types of Businesses and a Mid-Year Housing & Legislative Update, along with some favorite events such as our Annual Golf Outing & Scholarship Awards, Business Showcase & Beefsteak and the return of Texas Hold Em.   

Additionally, we have added a Summer Social BBQ this year in July as a multi-organization networking event with BANNJ, NKBA, NARI and other organizations.  Information and registration for all events is available on our website at https://members.bannj.org/events.   

News from the 2019 International Builders Show/KBIS in Las Vegas, NV:  Congratulations to BANNJ Builder Member, Dean R. Mon, for being installed as First Vice Chair of the National Association of Home Builders (see below article in news links) and to Associate Member, Michael Kurpiel of Universal Supply Company as the NJ representative to the newly formed NAHB Corporate Board of Directors.   

Finally, congratulations to our Executive Officer, Kathleen M. Kurpiel, for being installed on the National Executive Officers’ Council Board of Directors for 2019.
